I've been writing software for over thirty years — financial platforms, government systems, manufacturing, robotics, mobile, SaaS, PaaS, embedded controllers. No Stack Overflow, no shortcuts. You learned by reading manuals and debugging by instinct.
Then, fifteen years ago, I found my focus.
Chapter 2 — The Problem

Servers that crashed during Friday rush. Cloud systems that died when the internet hiccuped. Monthly fees that bled small businesses dry. Hardware that made owners feel like they were renting their own cash register.
The industry grew. The core problems never got solved. They just got a higher price tag.

Most POS companies patch bugs, bolt on features, and accumulate debt until the system groans under its own weight. I chose a different path. I threw everything away and started with an empty file.
Not because I didn't have code to reuse. Because I had too much. Three decades of experience gave me the clarity to design something entirely new — from scratch, on purpose.

I used AI the way a veteran architect works with a brilliant associate — I brought the vision, the experience, the scars from fifteen years of production failures. AI brought speed and the ability to explore a thousand solutions before breakfast.
Every architectural decision was mine. Every edge case was debated. Every line of code was reviewed with the context that only comes from decades in the field.
The result: a system that would have taken a team of twenty engineers three years — built by one person with the right partner, in a fraction of the time.
